Daydream Island

We spent Sam’s birthday at Daydream Island lounging around the pool and enjoying a special lunch (or two) at Mermaids Restaurant.

Daydream is well setup for families and as a guest of the resort you have the run of the island and all its facilities. We had fun on the stand-up paddleboards and sailing catamarans. In the evenings also went ashore to watch a movie at the free outdoor cinema.

Everyone enjoyed the change, but we were keen to go snorkelling again so we soon headed back out to find the reef again.

Dreamy Daydream

We had a lovely time at Daydream Island. They charge $55 per night for the use of one of their moorings, and for that price you also get to use the resort facilities...so we did!

Nick and the kids...considering downsizing from Lucey Blue!

Eric and I sat under an umbrella on the lovely beach above and watched the fun...

...so did the mermaids (well, they weren't under an umbrella...but you get my drift)...

We were having so much fun we were late leaving for Airlie Beach this afternoon...but with the current going in our direction we made 8kts over the ground, and got there well before the marina closed.

Everyone is pooped, and they are all in bed...which is exactly where I am headed now!

Night!
:-).

Hopelessly behind here...

It is getting to the point where my mind is just boggling every time I think about everything I want to put on here...and how long it is going to take me to do it! Given this blog is supposed to be a fun thing, the mind boggling part is not a good sign. Think I might have to sit by the pool and have another few mocktails...until the boggling subsides ;-).

I still have photos I want to share from Shaw Island, Lindeman Island, Whitehaven, Cateran Bay on Border Island (we've been there twice already now), Sawmill Bay, Whitsunday Peak, Hamilton Island, Airlie Beach, South Molle Island and Daydream Island. We've done almost two whole laps of Whitsunday Island...and haven't even got to Hook or Hayman yet...not to mention the outer reef. We could stay here for a very long time and still find plenty of things to see....and another lap of Whitsunday Island is not out of the question either!

Right now we are moored off Daydream Island. The wind has subsided and Lucey Blue is bobbing about peacefully. Nick has taken the kids ashore to see Marmaduke at the Island's outdoor cinema...so I am going to go read a little Cussler before bed. I estimate that even Dirk Pitt's action filled adventures will not keep me awake long tonight.
